  • Overview

    As a REACH Communication Specialist, you'll receive and process pre-hospital emergency transports requested by 911 Emergency Medical Services to the scene of an accident or incident.  You’ll also coordinate Inter-facility transports moving patients from one hospital to another who require a higher level of treatment or definitive care.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    As part of a well-synchronized team, processing thousands of transports per month in a fast-paced and demanding environment, our Communication Specialists work closely with one another to support the REACH mission: “In every situation, do what’s right for the patient”

     

    Using a Computer Aided Dispatch system, rapidly applied critical thinking skills, and timely and accurate communication, our team assigns the best resource to ensure the fastest, safest and most efficient transport across a patient’s journey. In addition to our ever-growing fleet of over 50 in-house air and ground resources, our team works closely with other medical transport providers to support seamless critical care transports for all patients in need.

    • Cool under pressure with ability to remain calm, composed and solutions-focused in the midst of intensity
    • General interest or appreciation for Healthcare, EMS, Aviation and the value of our service

     

    Requirements:

    • Strong Listening & Critical Thinking Skills –thoroughly absorbs information and ask the right questions
    • Professional Communication Skills – clear and concise verbal and written communications
    • Sense of Ownership – accepts responsibility and fully engages in the experience
    • Focused Yet Flexible – can stay “on mission” and not be thrown by the challenge of variables or ambiguity 
    • Multi-Tasking Abilities – capable of following a process while juggling issues and alternatives
    • Understanding of Emergency Medical Services or Medical Terminology preferred, but not required

    REACH's Flight Guard Communication Center is 24/7, 365 day per year operation, including holidays. A full time schedule for this position requires seven (7) twelve (12) hour shifts every two weeks. This schedule affords several days off in a row and also has built in daily overtime.
